We are team of men and women who are on a mission to inspire and support girls, especially those growing up in underprivileged communities to take up career and leadership roles in STEM and non-STEM fields. We become what we see and girls growing up in underprivileged communities lack appropriate role models. There is not much that these girls are exposed to, other than what they are presented with within the confines of their communities. When you lack the right role models and mentors, your vision is limited and the imaginations of what you can achieve are not fully exploited. Having the right representation using mentors and role models is very important for girls to believe they can be high achievers. Particularly, we do not see many women in STEM and in leadership positions and that has resulted in low participation in these areas. Many girls do not take up leadership roles and STEM-related careers because they have not been given the right mentorship and support to make choices in these fields.

About Us

This is where GirledUp Ghana comes in; to inspire girls to lead, be strong, smart and bold in making their career choices. We do this through mentorship, capacity building and volunteerism. At GirledUp Ghana, we believe in the power of representation and so both men and women mentors/role models are used to raise the next empowered woman.
